ALPTRAUM!

Translated from German as "nightmare", ALPTRAUM! is a comprehensive group exhibition of small to medium sized works on paper in a variety of disciplines (painting, drawing, screen prints, photography, collage) by an international mix of nearly 100 artists.

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

Developed by artists Marcus Sendlinger (Berlin) and Jay Stuckey (Los Angeles), and co-curated by Victoria Reis of Transformer (WDC) and Richard Priestly of Cell Project Space (London), ALPTRAUM! features work by twenty DC based artists from Transformer's FlatFile program, along with twenty artists from each of the other participating host cities. 

ALPTRAUM! organizer Marcus Sendlinger states:

“ALPTRAUM! is an artist led project. It is a model which utilizes global communication between localized artist hubs & clusters to form an international grouping with the intent of opening dialogue across borders and cultures in order to delve into the stuff and mind murk that is either collectively shared or completely random and unrelated, all within the syndrome of ‘The Nightmare’. Each artist draws on their own personal experience in order to visualize anxieties that take them beyond everyday dreams.”
