ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

Rodriguez’s quiet, contemplative images document his lived experiences: heading home, commuting to work, or simply driving as a means of meditative escape. Regardless of the destination, Rodriguez embraces and relishes in the freedom of driving. Otro Tiempo reflects moments within these driving journeys that Rodriguez seeks to remember. In photographing an experience, he solidifies its memory and unique feeling.

In sharing his personal memories, captured through the lens of his camera, Rodriguez extends an invitation to the viewer to join him in these experiences:

“I believe that the car creates an adventure. Otro Tiempo reflects on getting to where you want to be, and the freedom therein. Photographing moments as proof of where I’ve been, reflects who I am – and potentially who the viewer is as well. Each photograph of the things I see outside the car window - whether driving to work, heading to town, riding on a winding road, seated in the driver’s seat, passenger seat, or backseat – invites viewers of the work to come along on my journey.” – MichaelAngelo Rodriguez

Otro Tiempo is Transformer’s 18th Annual DC Artist Solo Exhibition, which continues our commitment to highlight the work of exceptional DC-based emerging artists.
